Seattle Seahawks Keep Wideout Jake Bobo by Matching the Jacksonville Jaguars Offer

The Seattle Seahawks held onto wide receiver Jake Bobo on Monday, matching the Jacksonville Jaguars’ restricted free agent offer sheet to keep the fan-favorite wideout in place. Bobo, who is 27, made the Seahawks’ roster as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2023 and built his name in Seattle through special teams.

Last Friday, Jacksonville submitted a two-year offer, forcing Seattle’s hand. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported the contract terms on X: $5.5 million over two years, $4.5 million guaranteed, a $1.75 million signing bonus, and a maximum value of $7 million with incentives. Seattle had until Wednesday. They responded Monday morning, before the deadline even had a chance to create suspense.

A Super Bowl Champion Who Earned His Ring Through a Broken Hand

Before UCLA, Bobo played four seasons at Duke, where he first developed as a college receiver. He transferred to the Bruins, caught 57 passes for 817 yards and seven touchdowns in 2022, and still went undrafted in the 2023 draft.

He made Seattle’s 53-man roster through a standout preseason and appeared in all 17 games in each of his first two seasons. Over those campaigns, he combined for 32 catches, 303 yards, and three touchdowns while carving out a steady role on special teams.

The Seahawks are matching Jacksonville’s offer sheet to Jake Bobo, who now stays in Seattle on a two-year, $5.5 million deal that includes $4.5M guaranteed, per source.

The 2025 regular season was difficult. Injuries cut his availability to 11 games with only two catches for 20 yards. The postseason was a different matter entirely.

Bobo caught a 17-yard touchdown in the NFC Championship win over the Los Angeles Rams. Then, less than two weeks after surgery on a broken hand suffered in that game, he suited up and played 35 snaps in Super Bowl LX against the New England Patriots. Seattle won 29-13.

Why Jacksonville’s Pursuit Actually Helps Seattle Feel Good About Matching

The Seahawks had tendered Bobo at the original-round level, worth a non-guaranteed $3.52 million for one season. Under that tender, Seattle owed Jacksonville nothing in compensation if they chose not to match.

They matched anyway. Jacksonville had its reasons for pursuing him. The Jaguars lost Dyami Brown in free agency and needed receiver depth behind Brian Thomas Jr., Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington. Jaguars pass-game coordinator Shane Waldron also served as Seattle’s offensive coordinator during Bobo’s 2023 rookie year, so the familiarity was real.

For Seattle, the decision came without much debate. Seahawks matched even while the defending champions already committed over $34 million to receivers Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, and Rashid Shaheed for 2026.
