Adebayo opens up on clash with Spoelstra during Spurs loss

Bam Adebayo spoke about his on-court exchange with Erik Spoelstra, stressing he does not want the Miami Heat to end up in the play-in.

Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo made his mindset clear after a tough loss and an on-court moment with head coach Erik Spoelstra.

The two were seen going back and forth early in the game, showing the urgency inside the Heat locker room as the season moves forward.

After the game, Adebayo explained the situation in simple terms.

"You see what I've been doing the last whatever amount of games, I don't want to be in a play-in," he said in a post-game press conference. "He's got to protect me from myself, but also, like, I don't want to be a f*cking play-in. So every game I'm gonna try to go out there and do the best I can to carry this team and force our way out of that."

Despite that mindset, the San Antonio Spurs controlled the game and handed Miami a 136-111 loss.

Adebayo finished the night with 18 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists in 29 minutes. He struggled with efficiency, shooting 5 of 17 from the field, and never found a steady rhythm against the Spurs defense.

Even so, his season numbers show his overall impact. In 62 games, Adebayo is averaging 20.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. He is shooting 44.7 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from three.
