Report: Why ‘disappointed’ Chelsea superstar is exploring transfer away from club

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez leaving Stamford Bridge this summer is starting to look like a real possibility.

It has been claimed that several Chelsea players are eyeing exits in the upcoming transfer window, and Fernandez is one of them.

The 25-year-old has been linked to some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

Enzo Fernandez unhappy with Enzo Maresca’s departure

According to talkSPORT, Fernandez was “disappointed” when Enzo Maresca left Chelsea and is now exploring a move away from west London.

Fernandez enjoyed a very good relationship with Maresca and was a key player for the Italian during his tenure as Chelsea manager.

In total, Fernandez made 79 appearances under Maresca, as per Transfermarkt. Across those matches, the Argentine scored 15 goals.

Under Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter, Fernandez often played as a deep-lying midfielder. However, Maresca used him as a No.8 and No.10 and got more goals and assists out of the World Cup winner as a result.

Last time out, Liam Rosenior thought Fernandez played well against Everton, but he could not prevent Chelsea from losing 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Enzo Maresca exit has set Chelsea back massively

Maresca and Chelsea agreed to part ways in January, but the Blues really should have done more to keep hold of the 46-year-old.

Since his departure, there have been a few good performances, but things have mostly been downhill for Chelsea.

It was always going to be difficult to replace a manager as talented and popular as Maresca halfway through the season.

Rosenior has potential, but he is simply not on Maresca’s level yet, and that has been clear to see in recent weeks.

It is no surprise that Fernandez was disappointed with Maresca’s exit and the manner of it, with that disappointment now being justified. Chelsea’s dressing room has seemingly struggled to accept Maresca’s departure, and the team have been heading in the wrong direction since then.

Hopefully, Rosenior can turn things around, but the signs are not looking good.
