The Minnesota Vikings had quite the run with QB Josh Dobbs in 2023, albeit a short one.
Dobbs was thrust into a starting role after being acquired in a trade with the Cardinals on Halloween of 2023. Kirk Cousins went down to injury in October of that year, making Jaren Hall the starter going forward with Nick Mullens out as well.
Of course, Hall would go down in his first official start in Atlanta. Thus, it was Josh Dobbs’ team. He would lead quite the improbable win over the Falcons in that game, and “Dobbsmania” was born.
It didn’t last long, as the magic wore off basically after only 2 appearances. He had a very fun game against the Saints the week after the Falcons that drew lots of attention.
Nonetheless, the Vikings went 2-2 in Dobbs’ starts. After a shaky game in Las Vegas in which Dobbs didn’t finish, his time in Minnesota was pretty much over.
Now, there’s an update for Dobbs, who has spent time with the 49ers and Patriots since being in Minnesota.

Myles Simmons ofPro Football Talk reported the Patriots’ release of Josh Dobbs.
“The Patriots are moving on from one of their quarterbacks.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, New England is planning to release Joshua Dobbs after the club could not find a trade partner. Dobbs, 31, spent last season as the Patriots’ backup. But the team recently agreed to bring back Tommy DeVito on a two-year, $4.4 million deal. DeVito now appears poised to move up from No. 3 quarterback to Drake Maye’s backup in 2026.
By releasing Dobbs, the Patriots will save $3.7 million against the cap with $1.05 million in dead money.”
Dobbs will look to catch on with another NFL team needing QB depth and experience in 2026.

The Cardinals posted about the signing of Oli Udoh on their official website.
“The Cardinals still may use the No. 3 pick overall on an offensive lineman, but they continue to add depth to the roster for the unit and give themselves leeway for their first pick in April’s draft.
On Friday, that came in the form of a one-year contract with veteran Olisaemeka “Oli” Udoh. Udoh, 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, has played 74 games in his NFL career since becoming a sixth-round pick of the Vikings in 2019. In 22 career starts, he has had 14 at right guard, four at left tackle, three at right tackle and one at left guard.”
Udoh made appearances in all 17 games in 2025 for the Titans. His most notable workload came in 2021 when he started 16 games for the Vikings. This is a solid move for a Cardinals team needing depth up front.
The Cardinals described their effort to beef up of the offensive line.
“Udoh is the fourth free agent added to the offensive line in the first two weeks of free agency. The Cardinals signed Isaac Seumalo, who will start at left guard, vet Matt Pryor, and they also signed Elijah Wilkinson, who could be an option at right tackle depending on the draft.”
