Chelsea now want to do exactly what they did with Enzo Maresca with Liam Rosenior - journalist

You could not blame Liam Rosenior for worrying about his job as Chelsea manager right now.

After a run of four consecutive defeats, Chelsea are at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification this season, the club’s main objective.

Since taking over, Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have also sacked two head coaches and watched another two walk away.

Chelsea want to give Liam Rosenior time and a transfer window

While things ended pretty ugly between Enzo Maresca and Chelsea, the Italian was never sacked and left by mutual consent.

Chelsea will argue that they gave Maresca time and more than one transfer window to improve the side. According to journalist Rob Dawson, they want to do the same with Rosenior and plan to review him at the end of next season, which was the plan regarding Maresca.

Speaking about Rosenior’s situation on ESPN, Dawson said: “From what I understand, I think they would like to do what they did with Maresca, which is judge him at the end of next season.

“Give him the summer, give him the window, give him a pre-season time to work with the squad and then see where they are at the end of next season. But if he’s going to get that far is under mounting debate.”

If Chelsea do decide to part ways with Rosenior at the end of the season, it looks like Blues fans would welcome Cesc Fabregas as a replacement.

The Chelsea Chronicle recently asked supporters to pick between Fabregas and Luis as a potential successor to Rosenior, and 77% voted for the former on TalkingPoints!

Why summer transfer window is unlikely to aid Liam Rosenior

The summer transfer window is unlikely to change Rosenior’s fortunes if the club’s strategy is not adapted.

Part of the problem at Chelsea is a lack of experience, especially in central defence. Goalkeeper has also been an issue lately.

Robert Sanchez watched the ball go through his legs for Everton’s second goal last Saturday.

If Chelsea do not address those two areas, nothing is going to save Rosenior, and that is if he does make it to the summer. The noise coming out of Stamford Bridge is that he will, but you cannot rule out anything under this ownership.

After the international break, Rosenior’s side have some tough games, so it is not going to be a straightforward finish to the season. The Blues still have to play Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.
