Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez insists he's held no talks with Real Madrid or any rival clubs - but again claimed that he will make a decision on his future after the World Cup this summer.

The Blues midfielder has been at the club since shining at the last World Cup, where his exploits helped Argentina lift the trophy as he was named as the tournament's best young player. That prompted Chelsea to spend £106million to land him a month later from Benfica.

He's since become a mainstay in the middle of the pitch, forming a strong partnership with Moises Caicedo. He's hit career best figures for goals this season but Chelsea could still miss out on the Champions League following several setbacks recently.

They've copped heavy criticism following their loss at Everton over the weekend, and that came just days after they were hammered 8-2 in their last 16 tie with PSG.

After Chelsea's loss to the French side Fernandez refused to commit himself to the club next year and has echoed that sentiment whilst away with his country. He told ESPN Argentina: "There are no talks. Right now I’m focused on Chelsea, we’ll see after the World Cup."

A move to Real has long been a huge draw for South American players. Los Blancos boast several Brazil stars currently and Fernandez may see an attraction. PSG, another club to be linked, would offer the guarantee of fighting for trophies on an annual basis.

Chelsea's project sees them sign young players with a view to them blossoming in west London. To lose Fernandez before he hit his peak years would be a huge setback, but Liam Rosenior is adamant that the 25-year-old is committed to the cause and any comments regarding his future were likely lost in translation.

He said recently: "I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning before training, not just about his comments, just how he was feeling, how as a team we can improve. He’s one of the captains of the club. What I would say is that he made it really, really clear to me how happy he is here at this club, how much he wants to win, how passionate he is for us to be successful.

"And he also said that in translation and in emotion, things get misconstrued in what he said. For me, he’s fully committed to this group, he’s fully committed to winning here at this football club."
