One school that is projected to have a lot of first-round selections once again this season is the Ohio State Buckeyes. There are a few names that are projected to go in the first round: WR Carnell Tate, edge rusher Arvell Reese, safety Caleb Downs, linebacker Sonny Styles, and defensive tackle Kayden McDonald. It is interesting that four defensive players are projected to get drafted in round one. That is how elite the defensive side of the football was under defensive coordinator Matt Patricia during the 2025 college football season.

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Carnell Tate (17) runs after a catch during the Cotton Bowl at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas for the College Football Playoff quarterfinal game against the Miami Hurricanes on Dec. 31, 2025. Ohio State lost 24-14.

There are a lot of Ohio State players that many NFL scouts are going to be watching during the Ohio State Pro Day on Wednesday. Jake Trotter was on ESPN Cleveland Radio on Tuesday previewing the Ohio State Pro Day. Trotter said, “I’m hearing the Browns will have a large contingent in Columbus tomorrow to look at all the Ohio State guys.” This is very interesting because Cleveland does have two first-round selections. The Browns probably do scout Buckeyes games often considering the fact that they are in the same state.

There will be a lot of other representatives in Columbus, Ohio, during the Ohio State Pro Day as well. There is no question that Cleveland will be paying close attention to Tate at wide receiver considering the fact that the Browns could very well draft a wide receiver sixth overall. McDonald could also still be on the board when the Browns are picking 24th overall.

It will not be a surprise when five Ohio State players get drafted in the first-round of the 2026 NFL Draft. General manager Andrew Berry needs to get his selections right. Some other teams that could be scouting closely will be the New York Giants, the New York Jets, the Tennessee Titans, the Dallas Cowboys, and others. The Browns will have a better picture of what they might do in the 2026 NFL Draft after the Ohio State Pro Day.
