Wagner had been sidelined since the All-Star break due to a left high-ankle sprain.
He will still miss Tuesday's game in Cleveland, but his recent G League assignment marks the first clear sign of progress in his recovery.
The Magic have not provided details on how much he practiced Monday.
Wagner has played in just four games since the injury on Dec. 7 against the Knicks.
This season, the German forward has appeared in 28 games, averaging 21.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists.
