“He Deserves Every Chance”: Tony Grossi Believes Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders Should Be…

Shedeur Sanders was a fifth-round 2025 NFL Draft pick by the Cleveland Browns. He was not the starting quarterback out of the gates in 2025, but Sanders got his chance during the middle of the season. He got into game action against the Baltimore Ravens in the second half when Dillon Gabriel suffered an injury.

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Myles Murphy (99) wraps up Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (12) in the first quarter of the NFL Week 18 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cleveland Browns at Paycor Stadium in Downtown Cincinnati on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.

His 2025 season was a massive struggle. Sanders completed 56.6% of his passes for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for 169 yards on 21 carries and one touchdown, along with averaging 8.0 yards per carry. Sanders is only 24 years old. With a lot of uncertainty at the quarterback position entering the 2026 NFL season, should Shedeur be the starting quarterback or should it be someone like Deshaun Watson or Gabriel instead?

Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland Radio made an interesting statement on radio on Tuesday about Sanders. He said, “I’ve turned the corner on Shedeur Sanders, I think he deserves every chance to be the guy.” Well, Shedeur could very well be the front runner to win the Browns starting quarterback job entering training camp. Watson has not played in a game in over a year for the Browns. Gabriel is nothing more than a backup at best.

Cleveland probably does not have much interest to draft a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft anyways. They are probably going to ride with Shedeur in 2026 and let the chips fall. If it does not work out next season, then the Browns may potentially start all over after the 2026 season. The quarterback class in 2027 will no doubt be richer anyways.
