Crystal Palace Eyeing Move For Chelsea Star as a Long-Term Marc Guehi Replacement

Crystal Palace sold Marc Guehi to Man City in January, and are reportedly keen on a Chelsea star to replace him.

The Blues went into the international break off the back of four winless matches in a row, something that has put Liam Rosenior under considerable pressure. He is one of the favourites to get sacked next in the Premier League.

Chelsea will hope to bounce back after the international break and boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League for next season, which could save Rosenior’s job.

Whoever the manager is in the summer, they will want to improve in defence, as Chelsea have had some centre-back issues, but recent reports have said that one of their current defenders could leave to join a London rival.

Crystal Palace eye Chelsea star Acheampong

Josh Acheampong is one of several young centre-backs at Rosenior’s disposal, including the likes of Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana.

However, Acheampong has struggled to find consistent form this season, making 24 appearances for the Blues. The 19-year-old is a promising young defender, who can play both as a centre-back and a right-back.

It looks as though he could be leaving the club in the summer though, as Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on Acheampong. According to Football Insider, Palace view the Chelsea star as a replacement for Guehi, who they sold to City in the summer, and hope that he can become their long-term reliable option at centre-back.

The 19-year-old has an estimated market value of around £22m, but seeing as he is a promising young defender, Chelsea would likely demand a lot more for him. It isn’t understood whether the Blues are interested in selling him or not this summer, but with the right offer they could be tempted; Especially considering that Chelsea are expected to invest in new centre-back players in the summer too to boost Rosenior’s defence.
