Chelsea have seen their form slump over recent times under Liam Rosenior
Chelsea were beaten 3-0 away by Everton last time out before the international break. Their form has slumped over recent weeks and pressure is starting to grow on head coach Liam Rosenior. The Blues have lost their last four games on the spin since their FA Cup win at Wrexham on 7th March.
The London outfit have slipped down to 6th in the Premier League table. They are also out of the Champions League after being battered by PSG. Therefore, the heat is starting to turn up on Rosenior at this moment in time.
Paul Merson on Chelsea struggles under Liam Rosenior
Pundit Paul Merson has delivered his verdict on Chelsea’s struggles, as per a report by Sky Sports: “It's been a bad month for Liam Rosenior at Chelsea. That's four games on the trot where they've been smacked. They can't win one game. There are ways of losing football matches and that was a horrible, horrible watch at Everton. It didn't look to me that the players were really on the same page as the manager.
“If Arne Slot got the sack at Liverpool this week, or if Eddie Howe left Newcastle, would Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior have got one of those two jobs? I'll go one further: would he even get an interview? It's madness.”
He added: “This Chelsea team don't sit pretty at all with the fans, who have put Rosenior under pressure from day one. But the board - whatever plan they've got - you'd think Rosenior would need to get into the top five for them to be happy.”
Chelsea turned to Rosenior as their replacement for Enzo Maresca. He initially started life at Stamford Bridge well. However, things are starting to turn slightly sour for him now and he needs his players to step up when they return.
As a player, the ex-defender spent time with the likes of Fulham, Hull City and Brighton and Hove Albion, among others. He then delved into the coaching world at Derby County after hanging up his boots. He then landed the top job at Hull in 2024.
Rosenior’s Tigers team narrowly missed out on the play-offs during his time in the dugout at the MKM Stadium. Nevertheless, he subsequently landed the Strasbourg job and did an eye-catching job in Ligue 1. Chelsea then came calling and he has since won 52% of his 19 games at the helm.
