Cleveland Browns reportedly like a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft

The [Cleveland Browns](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/cleveland-browns) can go in 100 different directions with their current quarterback situation, and it's even possible they head to the NFL draft to improve it. This draft doesn't seem to be too strong regarding the quarterback class, but that doesn't always mean everything in the long run.

Alabama’s Ty Simpson is an intriguing name for Cleveland, and it sounds like they think he can be a good player.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the Browns are impressed with Simpson’s skill set, even if there’s still uncertainty about where they value him in the draft.

“The Browns like Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, but it remains to be seen if they like him enough to take him in the first round, where he’s likely to go. Simpson has started only 15 games — all last season — but exhibited some tantalizing traits, including quick processing, accuracy, arm strength and mobility. In fact, some analysts, including ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky, don’t see much of a gap between Mendoza and Simpson.”

Simpson is one of the hardest quarterbacks to scout in this class. There were times at Alabama when he seemed to be an above-average player, perhaps even being the best quarterback in the country outside of Fernando Mendoza, but there were also other times when he played very poorly against good defenses.

The problem for the Browns right now is that we haven't seen them develop a quarterback in a very long time, so taking a guy who will need some reps leads to some uncertainties.
