The NBPA statement condemns the Milwaukee Bucks for seeking to rest a healthy Giannis Antetokounmpo against his wishes, citing the league's Player Participation Policy designed to ensure star players like him appear in at least 65 games.

"The Player Participation Policy was designed by the league to hold teams accountable and ensure that when an All-Star like Giannis Antetokounmpo is healthy and ready to play, he is on the court," the recent statement reads.
"Unfortunately, anti-tanking policies are only as effective as their enforcement; fans, broadcast partners, and the integrity of the game itself will continue to suffer as long as ownership goes unchecked.
"We look forward to collaborating with the NBA on meaningful new proposals that will directly address and discourage tanking."
Giannis recently suffered a left knee hyperextension (with a bone bruise) during a win over the Indiana Pacers on March 16. He had already missed games this season due to various injuries.
The Bucks organization wants to shut Giannis down for the rest of the regular season to protect his long-term health, avoid any risk of worsening the injury, and possibly improve their draft lottery odds by losing more games.
Antetokounmpo strongly disagrees. He has told the team multiple times that he wants to keep playing as long as doctors clear him and there's no major risk of further injury. He is refusing the team's requests to sit out.
The two sides have had several meetings about this in the past week, but they remain at odds.
The 10-time All-Star has been on a minutes limit this season while working through injuries to his calf, groin, ankle, and knee. He has appeared in 36 games, averaging 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in 28.9 minutes per game.
The Bucks are now 11th in the East with a 29-42 record, but the Hornets are far away from them (37-34).
