Maxx Crosby’s brief, chaotic trade saga with the Baltimore Ravens may have done more than cancel a blockbuster deal. It may have reshaped how he views his future with the Las Vegas Raiders.

A new ESPN report shows how close Crosby came to being traded for two first-round picks before the Ravens backed out after his physical.

According to ESPN’s Ryan McFadden, the deal fell apart in less than 48 hours. That happened even though Baltimore had prior access to his medicals. The concern centered on long-term durability in his knee, not his ability to play in 2026.

Crosby felt the impact immediately. He traveled to Baltimore, went through testing, and prepared for a new chapter. Hours later, the Ravens sent him back to Las Vegas after canceling the deal.

Crosby entered the offseason ready for a fresh start with a contender. Now, he is back with a different mindset. Since returning, he has made it clear he is committed to the Raiders. He even called it where he is “supposed to be.”

What looked like an exit now looks like a reset.

“Maxx wants to be a Raider. He’s no longer trying to get out of Las Vegas. Maxx doesn’t want to go anywhere.

Regardless of how the Ravens felt about his medical situation, he’s still one of the top EDGE players in the NFL.”

Ravens Collapse Shifted Maxx Crosby’s Perspective

Crosby wanted out of Las Vegas because of years of losing and constant change.

The Ravens, like the Chicago Bears, offered a real chance to win.

Then the deal collapsed.

Baltimore backed out late, and the team quickly pivoted to sign Trey Hendrickson. That sequence of events showed how quickly plans can change in the NFL.

Crosby felt that shift in real time.

After that experience, returning to a locker room that welcomed him back changed his perspective, as the Raiders still view him as a cornerstone and Crosby now appears to see it the same way again.

For the Bears, that realization is bad news.

Crosby is no longer pushing for a move. Right now, he is bought back in with the Raiders.

Bears Get Reality Check on Maxx Crosby Trade

For the Chicago Bears, this situation sends a clear message.

A Crosby trade was never simple.

Before the Ravens deal fell apart, the Bears were heavily linked to the All-Pro pass rusher. That connection made sense as Chicago still needs consistent edge pressure.

But this report shows the reality.

Even a contender like Baltimore, willing to give up two first-round picks, walked away late. Medical concerns, long-term risk, and timing all played a role.

The Raiders also remain firm. They still view Crosby as a foundational piece. They are not looking to move him unless they are overwhelmed, and according to McFadden, their price point has not shifted.

Now add Crosby’s mindset.

He is no longer looking for a way out, and he has publicly recommitted to Las Vegas.

For the Bears, that combination is going to be very tough to overcome.

This new report does not close the Bears door forever. But for now, it makes a deal far less likely. If the Bears were hoping to land Crosby soon, this situation likely cooled that possibility in a major way.
