Joe Mazzulla Says No 'Exact Timeline' For Injured Celtics' Two-Time All-Star

Boston Celtics center Nikola Vucevic recently said he was hoping to play "a couple games before the playoffs" as he works his way back from a right ring finger fracture.

Now 17 days removed from surgery, Vucevic is "getting better" according to Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla but remains without "an exact timeline" for return to action.

"He’s doing his on-court work, even with his left hand. But he’s getting better and better. I don’t have an exact timeline, but I know he’s making progress in his recovery," Mazzulla said Tuesday, according to MassLive's Souichi Terada.

The team said following Vucevic's surgery that the two-time All-Star big man would reevaluated in three-to-four weeks.

Boston acquired the 35-year-old in a blockbuster deal with the Chicago Bulls ahead of the NBA trade deadline, a move that saw guard Anfernee Simons shipped to the Windy City.

Vucevic came off the bench in 11 of his first 12 contests with the Celtics before the injury, averaging 10.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 21.7 minutes per game.
