The Atlanta Falcons are making some big moves right now, with quarterback Trevor Siemian the latest signing. The franchise had a very bad season with an 8-9 record in the 2025 regular season, were third in the NFC South, and missed the playoffs.
This put the team under significant pressure, and they have spent the offseason trying to shape the roster perfectly for the next season. Siemian is the latest name to be added to their team.
Trevor Siemian joins Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are continuing to reshape their quarterback room, and have agreed terms with veteran quarterback Siemian as a free agent. He has more than 10 years in the NFL and has played for the Denver Broncos, the New York Jets, the New Orleans Saints, the Tennessee Titans among others. He was most recently included in the Titans’ practice squad in 2025 before his release.

Siemian is expected to be a reliable backup option and could be an occasional starter. He will face much competition in his role, as the Falcons have gotten two strong options for the next season. The franchise recently brought in free agent Tua Tagovailoa on a one-year deal after he was released by the Miami Dolphins, and is expected to be the starter.
Second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. missed much of the 2025 season, and is still recovering from a partially torn ACL in his left knee sustained in November 2025. Being selected as their first-round draft pick in 2024, he has a documented history of season-ending injuries.
His last game played in the NFL was in 2023 for the Jets, and being 34-years-old, he joins a quarterback room where he will be relegated to a lower role. Siemian will be the QB3 and will be expected to provide emergency depth and mentorship. While it is part of the Falcons’ plans to provide a strong roster for the next season, fans are thinking otherwise.
Fans criticize Atlanta Falcons after signing Trevor Siemian
Many fans felt that the signing of Siemian was useless, and the quarterback room was not particularly impressive. Many feel that the other two quarterbacks are also not good options.
One user said, “Battle of the ass? Nah, this is the battle of the backups. Penix might flash, but Tua’s glass and Siemian’s career stats scream ’emergency only'”.
A second user wrote, “The Falcons are collecting injury-prone or mid quarterbacks like they’re Pokémon cards.”
A third user replied, “”Atlanta Falcons collecting QBs like Pokémon cards but still can’t find Charizard 😭💀 Tua, Penix, Siemian… bro they’re building a QB museum not a roster 🔥”.
Another added, “He wouldn’t ever win the starting job and that’s tough cuz both other options stink”.
A fifth user commented, “As bad as a QB room gets in 2026”.
A sixth user remarked, “This might be the worst qb room of all time”.
Trevor Siemian and the Atlanta Falcons will now prepare themselves for the 2026 NFL season.
