The Pat McAfee Show ground to a halt on Tuesday as breaking news arrived from western New York.
McAfee and his crew delivered their verdict on the long-awaited reveal of the bison statues set to stand outside the Buffalo Bills' new Highmark Stadium, and the reaction was one of unmistakable relief, after fans got a first look inside the stadium earlier this month.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have some breaking news out of Western New York," McAfee announced. "There will be massive bison outside the brand new Highmark Stadium, and they will be so big that it will not embarrass the entire franchise with little baby-a-- bison.

"These bison are big. These bison are strong. These bison are ready to go on a run, maybe to the Super Bowl for Buffalo."
The reveal had been one of the more hotly anticipated moments in the build-up to Highmark Stadium's opening ahead of the 2026 NFL season, with Bills fans spending months debating just how imposing the statues would be.
McAfee admitted the wait had been one of genuine anxiety. "We were worried about the chest being too close to the ground," he said. "I'm happy with what we're seeing here."

The numbers that came through did not disappoint. The centerpiece of the installation is a bull standing 27 feet tall and 29 feet long, weighing approximately 23,000 pounds.
To put that in perspective, Bills quarterback Josh Allen stands 6-foot-5, and the bull is more than four times his height. The cow measures 22 feet tall and 23 feet long, while the calf, described by the Bills as representing the next generation of Bills Mafia, stands 12 feet tall and 13 feet long.
The installation will feature three stainless steel sculptures, a bull, cow, and calf, anchoring the Family Circle, a gathering plaza outside the stadium designed to be used year-round.

The bison will be fitted with five programmable lighting systems and, in a particularly dramatic touch, the bull and cow will emit smoke through their nostrils, evoking the image of breath in a western New York winter.

Bills Senior Vice President of Design Frank Cravotta, who has overseen the project since its inception as part of the roughly $2.1 billion stadium build, acknowledged the scale of what had been undertaken.
"I didn't expect just how complex the engineering and fabrication would be for these statues," Cravotta said. "The sculptures are very large and one-of-a-kind."
The statues are currently being constructed in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and will be transported 313 miles to Orchard Park by flatbed before being installed by cranes ahead of the stadium's opening.
