The Knicks are interested in re-signing Landry Shamet to fill out their roster for 2025-26.

As the New York Knicks gear up for a matchup in Manhattan against the New Orleans Pelicans, they plan to be without one of their sharpshooting reserves in Landry Shamet.

The veteran guard suffered a setback against the Brooklyn Nets on March 20.

After 21 minutes as a starter, Shamet checked out with a concerning knee injury. He left the game after shooting 1-5 from the field, scoring just three points. In addition, he produced three rebounds, one assist, and two steals.

The Knicks won their matchup against the Knicks with a score of 93-92. Going forward, they were still concerned about the availability of Shamet.

When the Knicks took on the Washington Wizards on March 22, Shamet was ruled out. It was his first full absence since January 14.

As the Knicks approach their Tuesday night action against the Pelicans, a positive report regarding Shamet’s setback has surfaced.

via NY Post: According to the Knicks, Shamet, who banged his knee in Friday’s victory over the Nets, has a tibial plateau contusion. The good news is the injury is nothing major, a league source said, and the guard is not expected to miss much time.

The Knicks haven’t revealed a timeline for Shamet’s return, but the initial reporting doesn’t seem to suggest he’s in danger of missing the upcoming playoff run.

Heading into the 2025-2026 NBA season, Shamet spent a lot of time on the free agency market. He anticipated a return to the Knicks after spending the 2024-2025 season with them.

After Shamet signed another one-year deal with New York, he garnered a steady role this season, which included 12 starts while the team is undermanned.

Overall, Shamet has played in 46 games for the Knicks this year. He is shooting 43.9% from the field and hitting on 38.8% of his threes.

The 28-year-old guard is averaging 9.6 points, while coming down with 1.8 rebounds, and producing 1.5 assists per game.

Without an official timeline in place, Shamet could be taking his recovery day by day, which just might leave the door open for a possible return later this week.

After Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans, the Knicks will pay a visit to the Charlotte Hornets on the road on March 26. The Knicks will close out the week against the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 29.
