Packers-Ravens Trade Scenario Floats 11-TD WR to Baltimore

If there’s one position that the Green Bay Packers feel confident about entering 2026, it’s at wide receiver. Granted, that may be more so due to depth rather than overall production.

The Packers allowed last year’s leading receiver Romeo Doubs to bolt to free agency, where he eventually landed with the New England Patriots. That leaves the room still pretty full with guys like Dontayvion Wicks, Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, Skyy Moore, Jakobie Keeney-James, Will Sheppard, Isaiah Neyor, Bo Melton and Savion Williams.

But would that depth allow the Packers to make another bold move?

Even though the Packers have already lost a ton of last year’s talent to free agency, putting their playoff return in question, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton believes that one Super Bowl contender should give them a call on Wicks.

Ravens Floated as Potential Trade Fit for Packers WR Dontayvion Wicks

The call that Moton suggests could come out of the AFC North from the Baltimore Ravens.

“In recent years, the Baltimore Ravens have cycled through several veteran wide receivers in the latter stages of their careers, including Sammy Watkins, DeSean Jackson, Odell Beckham Jr., Nelson Agholor, and, most recently, 33-year-old DeAndre Hopkins,” Moton wrote.

“Baltimore needs to switch up its approach to bolstering its receiver room by targeting a younger player with more upside. The club can land a complementary playmaker to pair alongside Zay Flowers via trade with the Green Bay Packers, who have a crowded receiver room.”

That’s where Wicks comes into play, although Moton didn’t specify what the Packers could get in return.

Wicks has already shown flashes despite limited opportunities in Green Bay’s offense.

“As a rookie fifth-rounder out of Virginia, Dontayvion Wicks carved out a role in the Packers’ aerial attack, hauling in 39 passes for 581 yards and four touchdowns in 2023,” Moton wrote. “But the rise of wideout Jayden Reed, along with the addition of first-rounder Matthew Golden, buried him on the depth chart. Also, tight end Tucker Kraft took on an expanded role in the passing game before he tore his ACL.”

Since his rookie season, Wicks numbers have steadily declined. He went from 581 receiving yards to 415 his second season, then 332 last year, along with just two scores.

Packers’ Depth Could Limit Wicks’ Ceiling in Green Bay

Moton believes that Wicks has proven he can outperform his draft position, but opportunity may never fully come in Green Bay.

“Wicks has shown he can exceed the expectations of a Day 3 draft pick with limited opportunities in the passing game,” Moton wrote. “However, unless the Packers trade one of the other receivers, he won’t reach his full potential with them.”

That’s what makes this situation interesting for both sides.

“At 6’1″, 206 pounds, Wicks can be the big-bodied X-receiver in the Ravens offense who’s a threat in the red zone,” Moton added. “In his first two seasons, he caught nine touchdown passes while on the field for less than 55 percent of the Packers’ offensive snaps.”

For the Packers, it becomes a classic numbers game.

They have the depth. They have the bodies. But they may not have enough opportunities to go around — even with Doubs now out of the picture.

And if that’s the case, moving someone like Wicks — while risky — could be the kind of move that helps balance the roster while giving a young player a chance to thrive elsewhere.
