The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off a defeat to the Detroit Pistons, a game that ended their season-high nine-game winning streak.
In that loss, the Lakers were without both Marcus Smart and Rui Hachimura, as the two were out with ankle and calf injuries, respectively.
Now, in the lead-up to the team’s Wednesday night game against the Indiana Pacers, the Lakers have announced an updated injury report.

Hachimura is listed as questionable with right calf soreness. He had the same status in the lead-up to their Monday night game against Detroit, but was later ruled out. The injury isn’t expected to be too serious, per head coach JJ Redick.
“JJ Redick says Rui Hachimura was hit in his right calf in the Miami game and it tightened up on him in the Orlando game. He had a MRI that came back clean. He is day to day, per Redick,” Dave McMenamin wrote in a post on X.
Smart’s status is a bit more worrysome, as ‘doubtful’ is usually a precursor for a player being ruled out. The Lakers were without Smart as well on Monday, a key figure typically featured in the starting lineup.
“Redick added that Marcus Smart is dealing with a right hip issue from the Orlando game as well as the right ankle from the collision with Goga Bitadze,” McMenamin wrote in a separate post. “Redick said Smart is also day to day.”
As for Thiero, he’s seen limited action for the Lakers in his rookie season, as he’s bounced back and forth from the G-League in his first NBA campaign. He missed a decent chunk of the start of the year with a knee injury, the same one impacting his status for Wednesday.
Maxi Kleber returned for Los Angeles on Monday after out for more than two weeks with a back injury. He’s not featured on the Lakers injury report against Indiana.
