The 49ers signed wide receiver Mike Evans, brought back linebacker Dre Greenlaw, and are negotiating a new contract for left tackle Trent Williams.

Moves to acquire veteran players don’t reflect the franchise’s goal of eventually fielding a younger, more athletic roster, but San Francisco is still in the early stages of a multiyear revamp.

The 49ers started the overhaul by spending their first five 2025 draft picks on defensive players. Entering this season, Mykel Williams, Alfred Collins, and Upton Stout will be counted on in significant roles.
