Chris Broussard Goes Off on Lakers' Luka Doncic With Blunt ‘Ball Hog' Take

Luka Doncic is playing some of the best basketball of his life, but when it comes to the life of the Slovenian gunner, there always seems to be criticism regardless of how well he does.

After nine straight victories with the Los Angeles Lakers, Doncic and his team finally dropped a game on Monday against the Detroit Pistons, with the game coming down to the final shot. Doncic had an opportunity to put the Lakers ahead with less than 24 seconds on the clock, but after missing a jump shot in the lane, the Pistons held on for the victory.

Although the Lakers are still in a strong position to finish third in a difficult Western Conference, Doncic was once again under the microscope on Tuesday following the first Lakers stumble in weeks.

On Fox’s “First Things First,” NBA pundit Chris Broussard gave a backhanded compliment to the Lakers superstar following a streak of phenomenal performances.

"He has been on a tremendous heater, but the heater may be over,” said Broussard. “But he doesn't know it. … He's a Hall of Fame ball hog. He's an all-time great ball hog, but he's a ball hog!"

Broussard’s comments didn’t land with many Doncic and Lakers fans, who were quick to defend the guard.

“By his definition, both Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan are ball-hogs,” posted a viewer under the clip of Broussard’s words on Doncic. “That's great company to be in, but it's funny that I've never heard him talk about them like that.

Doncic and the Lakers can’t dwell on the end of the win streak, however, as their next three games need to be wins if they want to solidify themselves as possible NBA champion contenders: the Indiana Pacers (16-56), Brooklyn Nets (17-55), and Washington Wizards (16-55).
