The Philadelphia Eagles’ growing interest in Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. is starting to feel like more than standard pre-draft evaluation.
With a top-30 visit scheduled, multiple recent mock drafts linking him to Philadelphia, and another in-person look coming at Indiana’s pro day, the level of attention suggests this could be part of a bigger plan.
And given the uncertainty that has quietly surrounded A.J. Brown this offseason, it’s a connection that is becoming harder to ignore.
A.J. Brown is not just another player on the roster. He is one of the league’s most productive and physically dominant receivers. He is also a central piece of the Eagles’ offense. Since arriving in Philadelphia, Brown has consistently produced at a Pro Bowl level and remains on a trajectory that many believe could lead to Hall of Fame consideration if sustained.
However, there have been multiple reports of trade discussions involving Brown throughout the offseason. While nothing has materialized, the fact those conversations happened at all is notable. A potential move after June 1 would be more manageable from a salary cap standpoint. This would give the Eagles flexibility if they choose to explore that path.
Eagles’ Omar Cooper Interest Is Becoming Hard to Ignore
The Eagles have done extensive work on Cooper throughout the pre-draft process, and that kind of investment usually signals more than casual interest.
A recent mock draft from ESPN’s Field Yates had Philadelphia selecting Cooper with the No. 23 overall pick, further reinforcing that this is a realistic outcome. At the same time, a top-30 visit gives the organization a deeper evaluation window. This is something that has historically aligned with their early-round selections.
That trend was highlighted in reporting from Ed Kracz, who noted just how often those visits translate into picks.
“One of the Eagles’ top 30 visitors is usually drafted in the first round,” Kracz wrote.
Philadelphia will also get another extended look at Cooper during Indiana’s pro day, continuing what has already been a thorough evaluation process.

While adding a receiver in the first round is not a current necessity on paper, the broader context makes this situation far more intriguing.
That’s where the connection to Cooper becomes more significant.
Kracz laid out the potential implication directly.
“Drafting Omar Cooper with the 23rd overall pick would signal the end of A.J. Brown’s tenure with the Eagles,” he wrote.
If that scenario were to unfold, it would represent a major shift in Philadelphia’s offensive identity. Brown’s ability to win in contested situations, dominate after the catch, and dictate defensive attention is not easily replaced. Cooper, while talented, would represent more of a long-term projection rather than an immediate replacement.
Cooper himself even spoke about what it would be like to join the current receiver room, acknowledging the opportunity to learn from both Brown and DeVonta Smith.
“I would be able to learn a lot… being able to get the wisdom from them, and just the experience that they have,” Cooper said.
Whether that scenario actually plays out remains to be seen. But many believe that the Eagles’ continued focus on Cooper hints at something bigger.
