Moses Moody of the Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors will be at home tomorrow night to play the Brooklyn Nets.
Golden State is fresh off a badly-needed win, beating the Dallas Mavericks in an extremely emotional road game.
All the talk surrounding the Warriors has been negative. Injuries, injuries, injuries. They just won’t stop.
Already awaiting the desperately-needed return of superstar point guard Stephen Curry, who has been out with a perplexing knee injury since late January, the Warriors lost Moses Moody — another pivotal contributor — to a nauseating lower body injury during Monday’s win.
It’s official: nothing good is coming out of the Bay, and it sure seems like that’ll be the case for a little while.
Golden State Warriors Announce Depressing Injury Report
A victory in Dallas gave Golden State its 34th win of the season and only the seventh since Curry went down and out with an injury.
The only light to all the darkness in northern California right now is the Warriors still comfortably holding onto a play-in spot, albeit the very last one at the 10th seed in the Western Conference.
At this point, all the expectations have expired. This team is simply too banged up to make any push for glory this season. Golden State will once again see numerous namesout of the lineup in Wednesday’s home game.
Jimmy Butler (F): OUT — torn ACL
Seth Curry (G): OUT — left adductor strain
Stephen Curry (G): OUT — knee (right patellofemoral)
Al Horford (F/C): OUT — right soleus strain
Moses Moody (G): OUT — left patellar tendon rupture
Quinten Post (F/C): OUT — right foot injury management
Warriors Must Continue Fighting Amid Adversity
It’s easier said than done, but the Golden State just needs to keep pushing.
The season is far from over; the Warriors won’t be challenged for that final play-in spot thanks to teams beneath them in the standings aiming to lose games (AKA “tank”).
It’s not like they are mathematically eliminated from making the postseason. Far from it actually. If and when they get Curry back healthy in the lineup, Golden State will certainly get a boost. And if the freshly-acquired Kristaps Porzingis can gather some consistency with his availability, and if Horford can eventually join him in the front court, then the Warriors have more than just a little something. They can truly be competitive.
For now, the season is not about winning a title or making a deep postseason run. What truly matters is the intensity and spirit this team shows before its season is officially over. Many scenarios can play out, but how will the Dubs respond to the opportunities they’re presented with?
Curry’s hopeful return would mean he’ll have been rested for roughly two months, maybe even more. A superstar with fresh legs is always dangerous. The Warriors will have one, and they may be the only ones who have one at this juncture of the season.
Golden State has a couple of easier games, starting tomorrow against the Nets and then the following game against the lowly Washington Wizards, who appear to be on an anti-winning campaign.
Taking care of business against these two teams will be a confidence booster and a steadying force for the Warriors.
