The Buffalo Bills continue to evaluate options to strengthen their roster as NFL free agency moves forward. One potential target gaining attention is offensive lineman James Daniels, who has been identified as a practical fit for the team.
Buffalo’s offensive line remains an area of focus, particularly with the need to provide consistent protection for quarterback Josh Allen. Addressing the interior of the line could play a key role in maintaining offensive stability throughout the season.

Daniels offers experience and versatility, having played multiple positions along the offensive front during his career. His ability to contribute in different roles makes him an appealing option for a team looking to improve depth and reliability.
The appeal of Daniels also comes from his projected cost, which is expected to be manageable compared to other available linemen. That factor aligns with Buffalo’s need to balance roster improvements with financial flexibility.

Daniels has been named as the best fit in free agency for Buffalo. This is highlighted by Zachary Pereles in an analysis for CBS Sports.
The Bills lost stalwart left guard David Edwards in free agency and don’t have a ready-made solution. Even with the DJ Moore trade, the Bills want to be a run-heavy operation, and Daniels had an excellent 2024 with the Steelers before an injury wiped out his 2025 campaign. Perhaps more importantly, he would come cheap, a must for a team right up against the cap.
Adding a player like Daniels could help solidify the offensive line while allowing the team to allocate resources to other areas. His presence would provide additional support in both pass protection and run blocking schemes.
As the Bills continue shaping their roster, decisions in free agency will be critical to their success. A move to bring in Daniels could represent a calculated step toward improving a key position without overextending financially.
