Delap summer target for Newcastle

Chelsea forward Liam Delap has emerged as a summer target for Newcastle.

Although Delap is still in his first season at Stamford Bridge, he has struggled to adapt to life at Chelsea, managing just one goal in 21 appearances in the Premier League. And although injuries did not help him in his early months in West London, stylistically he is not a good fit for Chelsea’s current method of playing, which does not favour somebody with his direct approach.

And that means Chelsea are already considering selling him, especially if they can make their money back, a move that would be in line with their current transfer strategy of continually recycling young talent.

Newcastle are looking for attacking reinforcements, with some of their own recent signings like Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa failing to adequately fill the gap left by Alexander Isak who was sold to Liverpool at the end of last summer.
