Chelsea
Chelsea owners BlueCo want to sign FC Nantes’ Matthis Abline and Tylel Tati in the summer window.
The consortium led by Todd Boehly also own RC Strasbourg and the connection has seen them carry out transfer business with Chelsea.
BlueCo are keen on the 22-year-old and Tati for next season and carried out groundwork to sign the duo.
Abline joined the Ligue 1 side from Stade Rennais for €12m in July 2024 and managed 23 goals and nine assists.
His Ligue 1 stats this season are as follows
Appearances: 25
Starts: 21
Minutes: 1,991
Goals: 5
Assists: 3
Tati is a product of the club’s academy and made his way into the first team last year. The centre-back has made 19 league starts and one more in the cup competition this season.
His development convinced Chelsea to make an approach for him towards the end of the winter market. Liam Rosenior’s side made advances to sign the 19-year-old after missing out on Stade Rennais’ Jérémy Jacquet to Liverpool.
On February 2nd, Sport Witness relayed news of the Premier League side’s failure to sign him.
Chelsea not giving up
But! Football Club now report on BlueCo’s interest in Nantes’ Matthis Abline and Tylel Tati.
At the weekend, the duo played the full 90 minutes in their 3-2 loss to Strasbourg and Abline managed a goal and an assist.
The Chelsea owners had their representatives at Nantes’ stadium with a clear objective to make concrete progress to sign the duo. After the tie, direct talks were held with Abline.
In short, BlueCo have laid the groundwork to sign the frontman and the young defender and are preparing a ‘massive offer’.
It’s claimed they are ready to submit a combined €38m bid for two players and the figure is a clear indication of their firm desire to secure their services.
BlueCo’s plan is to sign them and immediately send them out on loan to Strasbourg. As the consortium owns two clubs, this is only possible if Chelsea were to sign them. In short, the work done so far is to bring the two players to Stamford Bridge.
Nantes are 17th [18 teams in Ligue 1], five points behind 16th placed Auxerre. With a real threat of relegation, both Abline and Tati are open to changing clubs in the summer.
Duo’s contract and values
Matthis Abline has a contract until 2028, and Transfermarkt value him at €20m.
On the other hand, Tati signed a new contract [in October] until 2028 and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €12m.
Taking this into account, the suggestion of €38m bid as a ‘massive offer’ makes sense.
