Everton have brutally targeted Chelsea forward Alejandro Garnacho in a post on social media platform TikTok. The Argentine has struggled badly since arriving at Stamford Bridge from Manchester United last summer.

The 21-year-old has scored seven times so far this season, but just once in the Premier League. Garnacho came on for Malo Gusto at half-time in Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Everton and made no impact against David Moyes' team.

And the Toffees have posted a clip on TikTok, showing Garnacho being manhandled by Everton's players and rolling on the floor after minimal contact. The video's caption said: "Not everything is nice at Hill Dickinson Stadium..."

Blues head coach Liam Rosenior has explained the thinking behind bringing Garnacho on in place of Gusto at half-time.

He said: “The thinking behind it was I felt like we had so much control without the cutting edge that we had.

“We had chances. [Jordan] Pickford made an unbelievable save and we were getting into the final third more and more. We wanted to make a positive change at half-time and get an extra winger on the pitch.

“And Moises has done that job very, very well against Everton, against Ndiaye, before inverting from right-back. You try and make positive changes to influence the game, and I felt even that change [worked] up until the second goal.”

Rosenior also shared his view on where Chelsea have been going wrong in recent weeks. The Blues have lost four matches in a row across all competitions - a run which has seen them crash out of the Champions League and face a tall order to qualify for next season's competition.

He added: “Again, I need to watch the game back. I've watched it once live.

“We arrived in that final third time and time and time again without that clinical moment. And we make a mistake for the second goal.

“Statistically, if you go through each game, it's not for a lack of shots, not for a lack of final third entries. That's where we need to be more clinical, and that's something we need to work on.”

Chelsea return to action after the international break with an FA Cup quarter-final tie at home to League One strugglers Port Vale on Saturday, April 4 (5:15pm GMT).

Rosenior's side then face a daunting run of league fixtures against Manchester City and Manchester United as they look to finish in the top four and qualify for next season's Champions League. The Blues will also know that fifth should be enough to secure a place in Europe's elite competition, based on the overall performances of English clubs in European competitions this term.
