ALBA Berlin reportedly plans to build a €100+ million NBA-ready arena

ALBA Berlin is planning to build an NBA-ready, 15,000-seat arena as it eyes potential participation in the new league, with the project’s cost expected to reach hundreds of millions.

ALBA Berlin is reportedly making significant strides in its bid for the NBA Europe project.

According to Berliner Morgenpost, the club is planning to build an NBA-ready, 15,000-seat arena as it eyes potential participation in the new league.

The cost of the project is expected to reach hundreds of millions, with financing reportedly supported by an American banking consortium.

The project is also set to be discussed on Friday in the Sports Committee of the Berlin House of Representatives, where ALBA manager Marco Baldi is expected to present a feasibility study.

Currently, ALBA Berlin plays most of its home games at the Uber Arena, which is owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group. Due to high rental costs and recurring scheduling conflicts, the club has been searching for an alternative venue for some time.

After years of competing in the EuroLeague, ALBA is playing in the Basketball Champions League this season, where it has reached the quarterfinals. The team is set to begin its quarterfinal series against Unicaja Malaga next week.
