Browns predicted to make bold move at receiver.

The Cleveland Browns haven’t made any additions at wide receiver this offseason, which is a surprise.

Cleveland’s wide receiver room struggled last season, as Jerry Jeudy was the team’s No. 1 receiver, but he struggled. So, ahead of the NFL Draft, Browns insider Zac Jackson of The Athletic expects the team to draft two wide receivers.

“The Browns are heavily invested in Jeudy and believe he’ll have a bounce-back season,” Jackson wrote. “But it’s also clear that this group, as currently constructed, is not nearly good enough to fully support whomever the quarterback is going to be.

“It won’t be a surprise to see the Browns add at least two pass catchers during the draft. If the team prioritizes offensive line or another position early in the draft, the Browns could look to add speed and size to the receiving group in the second round, and again later. Either with a developmental wideout or another tight end.”

Cleveland could draft a wide receiver with their second first-round pick to potentially replace Jeudy as the team’s No. 1 receiver. Then, the Browns could look to add another receiver, perhaps on Day 3, to compete for the final spot on the depth chart.

Regardless, Jackson expects Cleveland to add some receivers in the NFL Draft.

Jeudy recorded 50 receptions for 602 yards and 2 touchdowns last season with the Browns.

Cleveland Could Make Intriguing Move at 6th Overall

Entering the 2026 NFL Draft, it’s been widely expected that Cleveland will take an offensive lineman at sixth overall.

However, Jackson believes the Browns could take a wide receiver at sixth overall, which would be a surprise.

“Jeudy’s big stretch late in the 2024 season was followed by a dud in 2025,” Jackson added. “The Browns undoubtedly need a No. 1 receiver for their future, and that player could be targeted as early as the No. 6 pick in the draft.”

The top receivers available in the NFL Draft are Carnell Tate, Makai Lemon, and Jordyn Tyson. However, only Tate is expected to be a top-10 pick, so whether or not the Browns would reach for a wide receiver is uncertain.

Browns Likes Receiver Room

Although Cleveland has been linked to improving the wide receiver room, the team likes the group.

Speaking at the NFL Draft Combine, Browns general manager Andrew Berry said the team could upgrade. But, he likes the players the team has.

“I think we can add all across the offense to be honest,” Berry said. “We’re really pleased with some of the younger players we have. Jerry is gonna be a big part of it. And we’re pleased with Isaiah’s rookie year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add to the arsenal. Malachi, he carved out a nice role.

“But we probably look at it more like global weapons and global pass catchers and Harold [Fannin Jr.] would be a part of that, obviously. [Quinshon Judkins] is a weapon for us. You want to look at it as the overall infrastructure as opposed to one position.”

The Browns are likely to add at least one receiver in the NFL Draft if not more.
