Mike Tomlin has taken the biggest step yet towards a new career in television following his decision to leave the Pittsburgh Steelers after 19 seasons.
The iconic coach, who won a Super Bowl with the Steelers at the end of the 2008 season, walked away after his team suffered a disappointing playoff exit against the Houston Texans in January.
His decision left TV networks scrambling and they are now battling to secure his signature ahead of the new NFL season.
Now, according to Front Office Sports, Tomlin has signed with veteran sports media agent Sandy Montag's agency.
Montag, who represented John Madden, already handles the affairs of a stunning group of on-air talent, including Mike Tirico, Jim Nantz, Scott Van Pelt, James Brown and Dick Vitale.
It's claimed Montag and Alex Flanagan, a former sports broadcaster who is now an agent, will both represent Tomlin in talks with networks and streaming services.

The Athletic reported in the aftermath of his Steelers exit that Fox, ESPN, NBC and CBS would all be interested in hiring him to work on their NFL coverage.
Networks have been making major changes to their talent rosters in the offseason, giving Tomlin plenty of openings.
NBC has recently parted ways with Tony Dungy, Jimmy Johnson has left Fox's flagship pregame Sunday show and Matt Ryan's return to the Atlanta Falcons has left a vacancy at CBS.
Last month it was reported that Tomlin featured on a three-man shortlist for a role with NBC that also included his former players Cam Heyward and Aaron Rodgers.
Tomlin, 54, ensured the Steelers never had a losing season while he was in charge. But the franchise enjoyed a frustrating lack of playoff success, last winning a postseason game in 2016.
The Steelers' 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans in January's wild card round means they have now lost seven straight playoff games, the longest active streak in the league.
He was replaced by Mike McCarthy, another Super Bowl-winning coach, and it still remains to be seen whether Rodgers will be the team's starting quarterback again next season.
Tomlin told his players he would be taking a break from coaching and, true to his word, he didn't interview for a single opening in the NFL this offseason.
