Why Cole Palmer is‘annoyed’ at Chelsea right now - journalist

There is no doubt that Cole Palmer is a shadow of the player Chelsea fans know and love right now. The England star is struggling with injury, but Dean Jones has explained why he is ‘annoyed’.

Alan Shearer described it as a “horrible” situation to be in. Palmer is nursing a groin injury, and Chelsea are having to manage the playmaker to the best of their ability, using him without worsening the injury.

Ultimately, Palmer needs a break but how can the England man get a break when he is so important to club and country? In his first season at Chelsea, he took games by the scruff of the neck. The main man.

“Now, I’m told that Palmer himself is really frustrated with the recurring injury. It’s something that’s been there for a while now, and he’s not only frustrated with that and I think the management of it.

“But also with how it has begun to affect his form, because he is so desperate to get back to where he was. He’s annoyed. I think he’s annoyed with Chelsea’s form. I think he’s annoyed with his own form.

“I think he’s annoyed with his own body, a bit annoyed with the people who are looking after his body. And I just don’t know that we’re seeing the carefree Cole Palmer, which was the great thing about him.”

Whether Cole Palmer will be at Chelsea next season…

There have been murmurs that Palmer could leave Chelsea this summer. Manchester United have been strongly linked with the England star, and even Palmer’s best pal is trying to convince him of a move.

Jones continued on his analysis of Palmer’s situation, suggesting a move is possible: “I’m also concerned that he is feeling pressure and that actually is making him be a shadow of the player that he has been.

“There have been rumours that he’s homesick and he misses Manchester. I think there’s something in that too. I don’t know that Cole Palmer is going to stay at Chelsea for years to come, if I’m totally honest.”

The one caveat is that even if Palmer wanted to leave, he has a contract at Chelsea until the summer of 2033. An enormous deal that gives Chelsea all the power. The price would be monumental for Palmer.
