TE Colston Loveland of the Chicago Bears.
The NFL’s regular season may be more than six months away, but Colston Loveland isn’t taking any time off.
The Chicago Bears tight end posted some photos on his Instagram page on March 23 showcasing a chiseled, ridiculously muscular frame on his 6-foot-6 build. The images were a reminder that the 21-year-old from Bliss, Idaho, is putting in the work ahead of what could be a monster sophomore season.
It’s a far cry from where Loveland started last year. Selected with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft — the first tight end off the board — Loveland arrived at Halas Hall still rehabbing a Type V AC-joint separation suffered during his final season at Michigan. He missed OTAs, minicamp and the early portion of the regular season’s learning curve.
Through six weeks, his numbers were modest: He had just five catches for 54 yards and no touchdowns. Then came Week 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Week 9 against the Bengals, Loveland erupted for six catches, 118 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-winning 58-yard score with 17 seconds remaining that sealed a 47-42 Bears win. He became just the third Bears rookie since 1970 to post 100+ receiving yards and multiple touchdowns in a single game, joining Willie Gault and Marty Booker. He was the first rookie tight end to accomplish the feat since team legend Mike Ditka in 1961.
That performance earned Loveland NFC Offensive Player of the Week, and he never looked back.
He finished the regular season as Chicago’s leading receiver with 58 catches for 713 yards and six touchdowns. In two playoff games, he added 193 receiving yards, breaking Sam LaPorta’s record for the most by a rookie tight end in the postseason.
PFF ranked Loveland as the highest-graded rookie and the second-highest-graded tight end of the 2025 season.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who built an offense around LaPorta during his time as offensive coordinator in Detroit, has made clear that Loveland is central to Chicago’s plans going forward.
“He knows what to do. He’s got outstanding hands. He works his tail off,” Johnson said about the young TE on January 6. “There’s been an immense trust level, and his route tree has grown accordingly.”
At the NFL combine in February, Johnson expanded on the excitement surrounding his young tight end entering Year 2. “The good news about going into year two is you got a much better feel for the players on the roster,” Johnson said. “We look forward to getting them through a full offseason program and seeing where it goes from there.”
Quarterback Caleb Williams, who threw for 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns in his second season, has been equally effusive about his favorite target.
“We got a home run with him,” Williams said about Loveland, via ESPN. “One of the hardest workers on this team. He’s there late, he’s there early.”
Could Loveland have a sophomore season that sees him catch around 80 passes for 850 to 1,000 yards and as many as 10 touchdowns? Based on the look of that Instagram photo, he’s doing everything he can to make it happen.
