The Boston Celtics saw their four-game win streak come to a screeching halt on Sunday night when they suffered an ugly 102-92 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves. In an effort to blow off some steam, head coach Joe Mazzulla and guard Derrick White decided to attend WWE Monday Night Raw the following evening, which was being held at TD Garden.
It didn't take long for Mazzulla and White to go viral at this event, as Mazzulla playfully pretended to beat up White when the cameras found their way on them. While they may appear to be enemies, Mazzulla kept it real when discussing his decision to attend this event with White.
"A nice night with the family, nice night with D. White and his family, and a chance to learn," Mazzulla said to reporters. "Any chance I can go to the Garden and watch other people do stuff, it's important."
Ever the strategist, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Mazzulla was looking to learn something from attending this event. Getting the opportunity to do so with one of his players was also quite meaningful, especially since White and Mazzulla have managed to develop such a strong relationship during their time together.
When the Celtics return to the court, though, they are going to have their work cut out for them. The New York Knicks are making a serious push for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, and Boston's tough schedule isn't making life easy in its quest to hold them off. Another tough challenge awaits the C's, as they will square off against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.
