Four Newcastle United players have been in England training this week as two missed out.
Newcastle United have six players in the current England squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Uruguay and Japan.
It’s a record for the club and means they are the most represented club in Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions squad in the final international break before the end of the season and the 2026 World Cup in June.
Aaron Ramsdale, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento and Harvey Barnes all reported for training at St George’s Park this week in preparation for Friday’s friendly match against Uruguay at Wembley Stadium. Ramsdale, Hall and Livramento were named in Tuchel’s original 35-man squad, while Barnes was added later following Eberechi Eze’s withdrawal due to injury.

NUFC duo missing from England training
But two Newcastle players who were missing from England training this week were Anthony Gordon and Dan Burn. The pair have been named in the England squad but are two of 11 players granted extra time off after a busy fixture schedule.
Hall and Barnes’ inclusion in the England squad for the first time under Tuchel has seen them involved despite featuring frequently for Newcastle during the recent busy fixture run. Newcastle supporters would probably prefer Hall to be protected having started 18 of Newcastle’s last 20 games in all competitions.
Ramsdale and Livramento have had their minutes limited, with the latter only recently returning from injury.
In addition to Burn and Gordon, Crystal Palace’s Dean Henderson, Manchester City’s Marc Guehi and Nico O’Reilly, Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa and Morgan Rogers, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka as well as Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane have also been granted extra time off having played in Europe for their respective clubs.
They are not expected to play any part in Friday’s match against Uruguay but are set to be involved against Japan next Tuesday with some players involved against Uruguay set to be sent home.
On the unorthodox England set-up, Hall said: “It was no secret that there's obviously more players being called up to this camp.
“He's explained to us that there's no need to read anything into it. It's purely based off making sure that players who haven't necessarily seen much of get the opportunity in front of them and then players who have played a lot with them and had the opportunities can get a bit of rest away from their clubs because they've been playing a lot of minutes and stuff. For me now, I'm just looking at it as a great opportunity to train well, to try and impress and to try and show them what I'm about.
“I think that's all I'm focusing on at the minute.”
