Boston Celtics Make Roster Decision Before OKC Thunder Game

The Boston Celtics will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder at home on Wednesday, March 25.

Ahead of the game, the Celtics made a roster decision to keep a temporary player on board for another 10-day run.

According to the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, the Celtics are signing the veteran center, Charles Bassey, to a 10-day deal. It marks his second contract with the Celtics.

Bassey will be on the roster for Boston’s 7:30 PM ET tip on Wednesday night.

Bassey’s Run With The Celtics So Far

The Celtics added Bassey ahead of their March 16 game against the Phoenix Suns. The move was made after the team found out its trade deadline acquisition, Nikola Vucevic, suffered an injury that could potentially end his 2025-2026 regular season.

Bassey didn’t make his debut with the Celtics in the game against the Suns, but he checked in for two minutes against the Golden State Warriors. Bassey scored two points and came down with one rebound amid the 120-99 blowout win for Boston.

In the following game, Bassey picked up another DNP against the Memphis Grizzlies. He returned to the court for the March 22 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Once again, Bassey clocked in for under three minutes. He scored two points, produced one rebound, and came up with a steal.

Bassey Is Working For Long-Term Stability

It’s unclear if the Celtics will keep Bassey around beyond his second 10-day deal, but the veteran center will continue to make the most of his temporary opportunities.

For Bassey, the 2025-2026 season has been the year of 10-day deals. Back in October, Bassey signed a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies. He returned to the G League until signing a 10-day deal with the Philadelphia 76ers on January 26. Bassey would ink multiple 10-day contracts with the Sixers.

Now, he’s in his second run with the Celtics.

Through his five games, Bassey has averaged 2.6 points and 3.4 rebounds this season. In his career, Bassey has produced 4.2 points per game, along with 4.7 rebounds per game.
