New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has quickly learned that old quotes can resurface out of nowhere when you're in the spotlight.
Shough, the 40th pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, had a really nice rookie season with the Saints, completing 67.6% of his passes for 2,384 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. His production during the second half of the regular season earned him the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year.
"I am truly humbled and honored to be chosen for this award," said Shough. "Coming in as a rookie, my goal was to do anything I could to contribute to our team's success. Whatever I was asked to do, I just wanted to help the team. This wouldn't be possible without all of my teammates and coaches giving everything they had each and every week to help us win. The award is truly a reflection of all of their hard work. I also want to say thank you to our amazing fans. Your unbelievable passion for the Saints and the city of New Orleans inspires all of us! I can't wait to see where we go from here!"

Although we're several months away from Shough returning to the gridiron, he's making headlines because of something he said last year.
Shough revealed in 2025 that he's a huge supporter of Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear. He said he'd vote for Beshear if he ever runs for president of the United States.
"Mr Beshear, I hope you become president one day, man. We will be voting for you," Shough said, via Daily Mail. "I appreciate the opportunity and maybe at that point I'll be in your cabinet for sports advisor or something."
For some reason, NFL fans are just now learning about Shough's appreciation for Beshear.
Shough's future is bright.
There's no question the Saints improved drastically once Shough was named their starter last season. They went 5-4 with him under center in large part due to his success on third down and his undeniable connection with wide receiver Chris Olave.
The Saints upgraded their offensive personnel around Shough this offseason by signing running back Travis Etienne Jr. and offensive guard David Edward in free agency.
If Shough builds off the success he had in 2025, the Saints could compete in a wide-open NFC South.
