Chelsea may have a managerial decision to make if results don’t improve under Liam Rosenior
Chelsea will ‘line up’ for Como boss Cesc Fabregas if they sack Liam Rosenior, according to TEAMtalk. The Blues are said to be admirers of the Serie A manager. He spent time with the Premier League giants during his playing days.
Liam Rosenior is under pressure after four defeats in a row. His side were beaten 3-0 away by Everton last time out before the international break. They have slipped down to 6th place in the table with seven fixtures left to play as they eye a position in the Champions League again.
Chelsea linked with Como boss Cesc Fabregas
Fabregas played 198 games for Chelsea from 2014 to 2019 and scored 22 goals. He also had spells with the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona, AS Monaco and Como before hanging up his boots in 2023. The Spaniard has since delved into the managerial world.
The 38-year-old got his coaching break at Como and has worked his way up to becoming their full-time boss. They were promoted from Serie B in 2024 after they finished 2nd. They have since adapted well to life in Serie A and are currently in the top four along with Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli and are above Juventus in 5th.
Chelsea could see Fabregas as someone to lead them forward if they cut ties with Rosenior. They turned to the ex-Derby County, Hull City and Strasbourg earlier this year. He initially started well but his team are out of form at the moemnt.
Regarding Rosenior’s future, reporter Nizaar Kinsella has shared this update, as per BBC Sport: “There is no suggestion inside Chelsea that Rosenior, who succeeded Enzo Maresca in January when he joined from partner club Strasbourg, is in danger of losing his job, either now or at the end of the season.
“There is an understanding that he took over mid‑season from Maresca, who walked away following a falling-out with the hierarchy, when the club had hoped the Italian would remain until at least the summer. Such is the strength of support for Rosenior - who is under contract until 2032 - that he has been heavily involved in regular transfer planning meetings with sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.”
