17-year-old Chelsea youngster scores brace in star performance for England U18s

Chelsea’s youngsters are in full force representing their countries during the international break, with one player making an instant impact for the England U18s.

With some of the first team stars flying more than 10,000 miles to feature during this break, there are 10 academy stars representing their nations as part of the Young Lions.

Shumaira Mheuka and Jesse Derry both started for England U19s in their first fixture, however tasted defeat against Serbia.

Chizzy Ezenwata stars for England U18s

England U18s got on much better against Bulgaria, and were helped out by a starring performance by Chelsea youngster Chizzy Ezenwata.

The 17-year-old has been featuring as a centre forward for the Chelsea youth sides since his addition from Charlton in 2023.

He fired a brace for his country, building on an impressive run for his country. He scored five goals for the U17s, and just doubled his tally for the U18s.

Reggie Walsh also enjoyed a fine game for his country, picking up two assists, including one for Ezenwata.

Ezenwata taking club form onto international stage

While a lot of attention regarding Chelsea’s young strikers is reserved for Mheuka, the 17-year-old is going about his business very nicely too.

Ezenwata has 13 goals and six assists in 18 games for the Under 18s this season, and is turning heads at the club with his performances.

Chelsea chiefs must be very impressed with Ezenwata, and even included him in first team training sessions on occasion.

With it only a matter of time before Mheuka is promoted to first team opportunities, Ezenwata looks the perfect candidate to fill his space in Premier League 2.
