Along with defensive tackle, the Green Bay Packers‘ primary focus early on in the draft will most likely be at the cornerback position.

A cornerback tandem of Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine did not appear to be one vehemently capable of shutting down top-quality wideouts last season, even with the elite safety tandem of Xavier McKinney and Evan Williams behind them.

Earlier in March, the Packers released disappointing slot cornerback Nate Hobbs, who was unable to perform well enough on the boundary to beat out Valentine for the CB2 spot, and subsequently added former Chargers CB Benjamin St. Juste.

However, the unit still looks thin, with question marks surrounding all three potential starting exterior corners. But there still could be more positional additions coming the Packers way.

Appearing on social media on Wednesday morning, Diggs was tagged in an Instagram story from Micah Parsons, where the pair were seen working out together. But the interesting tenet comes from the fact that the former second-team All-Pro was wearing a Packers hoodie in said post.

“The Packers released Trevon Diggs earlier this offseason, but he’s still wearing a Packers hoodie while working out with Micah Parsons (via Parsons’ IG)”, The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman wrote, before sharing a picture of the story below.

Diggs joined the Packers on December 31, 2025 after being released by the Dallas Cowboys – playing in the final regular season game, a dead rubber against the Minnesota Vikings, and their tragic wild card defeat to the Chicago Bears, before being released three weeks later on January 20, 2026.

Having become one of the league’s best corners early on in his career, garnering Pro Bowl recognition in 2021 and 2022, injuries derailed both Diggs’ ability to stay healthy – he has played just 29 total games over the past three years – and his form on the field when he has been available.

Are the Packers Interested in Bringing Back Diggs?

His release from the team was little more than a pre-ordained formality, and is not necessarily an indictment on how Green Bay felt about Diggs’ ability.

The former Cowboy was owed a $14.5 million base salary in 2026, something that the Packers were always going to pass on paying him in 2026, with his initial acquisition having been aimed at securing the perimeter cornerback position ahead of a potential playoff run.

Diggs did not do a whole lot during his tenure in Wisconsin, participating in the meaningless Week 18 loss and play ing just one snap on defense in the Wild Card defeat.

But that does not mean that general manager Brian Gutekunst and the rest of the Packers brass do not see value in him. As late as this past season, Diggs has continued to struggle with injuries. The Alabama alum is still just 27 years old, and with an injury free offseason a return to form – even if he is not quite playing at the tip-top level he once displayed – is more than possible.

Green Bay has over $23 million in available cap space. If Diggs’ desired price tag is not too excessive, the team could well be willing to once again take a chance on him.
