Trevon Diggs had a poor 2025 season, which could have been much better for him. The Green Bay Packers released him after a disappointing campaign which saw them go 9-7-1 in the regular season, and end up second in the NFC North division.
They were then knocked out by their rivals the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Round. Now, it looks the cornerback could be back to the Packers after a viral photo.
Diggs was released by the Packers on January 20, 2026, after a brief stint with the team. The Packers had claimed the former Dallas Cowboys cornerback off waivers on December 31, 2025, to provide veteran depth at the position amid injuries. Diggs appeared in just one game for them, and had just two combined tackles and no sacks. He played 8 games for the Cowboys earlier in the season.

The Packers let go of him due to salary cap constraints. He had a base salary of approximately $14.5–15 million for the 2026 season with no guaranteed money left on his five-year, $97 million extension originally signed with the Cowboys in 2023. This allowed the franchise to clear over $15 million in cap space without incurring dead money.
He is currently an unrestricted free agent at age 27, and is looking for another team to join. Diggs was recently seen training alongside defensive lineman Micah Parsons in a gym. Parsons and Diggs share a good relationship due to being longtime teammates, even during their time at the Cowboys.
A recent [Instagram story](https://x.com/mattschneidman/status/2036832165661458671?s=20) from Parsons shows the two former teammates posing after a gym session. Fans couldn’t help but notice that Diggs was wearing a Packers hoodie, despite being released by the organization. Many believe that he could be hinting at a return to the Packers, though it remains a speculation.
Being an unrestricted free agent cornerback at 27-years-old, Diggs continues to search for his next franchise. He will draw interest from teams that require a low-cost veteran depth option with proven experience. Any such deal will most likely be done after the 2026 NFL Draft is over, when teams will reevaluate their squads ahead of the training camp.
Some options like the Washington Commanders, the Miami Dolphins, the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been mentioned. A return to the Packers could also be realistic. However, these are all mere speculations at this point, and no strong rumors tie the player to these franchises.
It remains to be seen where Trevon Diggs will end up ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
