The Detroit Lions hinted that they still have more moves coming to shape their final roster, and could have a small opening to land one of the biggest prizes of free agency.

Though when it happens could still be up in the air.

The Lions were named as a potential landing spot for Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby, who was initially traded to the Baltimore Ravens before returning to Las Vegas when the trade fell apart. A new report found that there could still be a slim hope for the Lions to land Crosby, though it won’t come until after the season starts.

Maxx Crosby Could Return to Trade Block

A new report from ESPN’s Ryan McFadden shed light on how the negotiations between the Ravens and Raiders abruptly unraveled, while offering some insight on his future. McFadden noted that the Raiders were surprised but not angry when the Ravens balked after getting the results of Crosby’s physical, then welcomed their star back to Las Vegas.

The Raiders still got some offers on Crosby, but aren’t planning on lowering their asking price from the massive sum the Ravens had agreed to pay.

“Teams continue to check in on his availability, but as of now, the Raiders’ asking price to trade Crosby’s contract remains high,” McFadden wrote. “And given what has happened, teams are hesitant to meet it, a league source said. Multiple Raiders sources say they’d be surprised if Crosby was traded in the short term. Perhaps a window of opportunity opens closer to the draft, but the team is certainly keeping an open mind on retaining him.”

That means the Lions could still be in the mix to land Crosby — as long as they would be willing to part with multiple first-round picks and potentially a player.
