Las Vegas is set to host the Super Bowl for the second time in five years.
NFL owners are expected to vote next week to award the 2029 championship game to Allegiant Stadium, with one source describing the outcome as a "matter of formality” to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The vote will take place at the league's annual owners meetings in Phoenix, running from March 29 to April 1, and the result is not expected to be in any doubt. The decision would bring Super Bowl LXIII back to the Raiders' home stadium, which last hosted the game in February 2024. The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime, one of the most dramatic championship finishes in recent memory while two streakers disrupted a huge play by running onto the field.

Allegiant Stadium, which opened in 2020 at a cost of $1.9 billion, making it one of the most expensive stadiums ever built, has quickly established itself as one of the NFL's premier venues for marquee events despite only having been in existence for six years.
The indoor stadium, nicknamed the "Death Star" for its striking black exterior and translucent ETFE roof, also hosts UNLV football, the Vegas Kickoff Classic and the Las Vegas Bowl.
WWE's flagship event WrestleMania will be held there in April for the second consecutive year, and the College Football Playoff National Championship game is scheduled there for January 2027.

The confirmed Super Bowl schedule now stretches through to 2029. Next year's game, Super Bowl LXI, will be held at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Valentine's Day.
That marks the second time SoFi Stadium has hosted the championship after the Los Angeles Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals there in 2022.
Super Bowl LXII will then head to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in February 2028, also a repeat host after the New England Patriots defeated the Rams 13-3 there in 2019.
The New England Patriots captured their sixth Super Bowl title with a 13–3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII, a defensive battle that became the lowest-scoring championship game in NFL history. Bill Belichick’s game plan stifled the high-powered Rams offense, while Tom Brady did just enough to guide New England to victory late. The win marked Brady’s ninth Super Bowl appearance and sixth championship, further extending the Patriots’ dynasty

Nashville had been hoping to land the 2029 game, with the city's new Nissan Stadium set to open in 2027. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has spoken warmly about the Tennessee capital's potential as a Super Bowl destination, telling officials at a stadium construction ceremony in November that the city is "Super Bowl-ready."

"The one thing that's missing is the stage," Goodell said at the time. "I think now we're building a great stage."
However, with Las Vegas holding the inside track for 2029, Nashville's next realistic opportunity is now 2030, when it would need to overcome the precedent that Florida has never gone nine consecutive years without hosting a Super Bowl.
Super Bowl LVIII was the first postseason game Allegiant Stadium had ever hosted, and the city delivered an event that has been widely praised. A return in 2029 would come just five years after that debut.
