Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez makes Lionel Messi retirement claim

Refusing to get caught up in the retirement rumors swirling around Lionel Messi, Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has insisted the Argentina squad is focused solely on enjoying him to the fullest.

The partnership between Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernandez has been the heartbeat of Argentina’s golden era. Since his debut in late 2022, the pair has shared the pitch in approximately 30 matches, maintaining a remarkable win percentage and a points-per-game average of 2.55.

Their bond was famously forged during the 2022 World Cup, where Messi assisted Fernandez’s stunning goal against Mexico, making Enzo the youngest Argentine to score in the tournament since Messi himself.

Beyond that breakout moment, Chelsea midfielder Enzo has reciprocated with key assists, including a perfectly weighted ball for Messi’s record-breaking 80-second goal against Australia in 2023.

And together, they have secured the Triple Crown of international football, the World Cup, Copa America, and Finalissima.
