Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes is on the road to recovery after tearing his ACL late last year. The injury came while scrambling out of the pocket on December 14th against the Los Angeles Chargers. The moment seemed to be the final nail in the coffin after a tumultuous 2025 campaign.
Fans questioned his decision to have the surgery the very next day (December 15th) as players typically wait for swelling to go down before hand. However, exactly 100 days after his surgery, Mahomes is trying to prove the doubters wrong.

The video, reposted to Twitter by Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team, has already garnered more than 130,000 views. In the comments, fans seemed to think he is rushing his return to the field:

Doctors usually give a timeline of 8-12 months (often 9) for recovery of a full ACL tear. It has been just over three months since Mahomes’ surgery and he is already upright and throwing the ball. If Mahomes’ recovery time is on par with what doctors predict, he will be available right around the start of the season.
The 2026 season will kick off on September 9th with the Seahawks playing at home (opponent TBD). Kansas City is set to play Seattle on the road in 2026. It is very possible that the league will pick the Chiefs as it figures to be a primetime matchup. That would put even more pressure on Mahomes to get healthy before the start of the season.
