Buckeye stars shine at Pro Day as NFL scouts descend on Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — All eyes were on the Woody Hayes Athletic Center Wednesday as representatives from all 32 NFL teams, including six head coaches and six general managers, converged for Ohio State’s annual Pro Day.

The highly anticipated event showcased a roster of Buckeyes widely expected to dominate the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft. Among the standouts was Arvell Reese, a 6-foot-4 prospect described by many as a "freak athlete."

Reese, a consensus top five projected pick, used the afternoon to demonstrate the versatility and physical "violence" on the field that has scouts buzzing.

"I just wanted to show them what I can do," Reese said.

Joining him in the spotlight was wide receiver Carnell Tate. While Tate opted not to run the 40-yard dash, he displayed precise route running and reliable hands while catching passes from current Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin.

Tate’s professional stock remains high. He confirmed he has already visited the Cleveland Browns and has a busy travel schedule ahead with visits slated for the Titans, Saints, Commanders, Giants, and Chiefs.

"I'm looking forward to the process," Tate said, adding that he plans to attend the draft in person.

This year’s class has the potential to make history for the program, with four Buckeyes currently considered locks for the top 10. The depth of talent was evident as players like Caleb Downs and Sonny Styles also took part in the day's drills.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day noted the significance of the turnout, emphasizing the program's continued role as a pipeline to the professional ranks.

The 2026 NFL Draft is scheduled to kick off Thursday, April 23, in Pittsburgh.
