ESPN loves 1 key Steelers free agency signing

The Pittsburgh Steelers are an interesting watch this offseason, mainly due to their odd quarterback situation.

But don't let that overshadow the fact that the franchise made some shrewd free-agent signings.

Rico Dowdle and Michael Pittman Jr. for Mike McCarthy to work with is a great start, plus the additions on defense make Pittsburgh a better team, at least on paper.

And for ESPN's Ben Solak, one move he loved this offseason was Pittsburgh acquiring Pittman Jr.

“Getting Pittman on the late-round pick swap,” Solak wrote. “The Steelers signed Pittman to an extension after the trade that guarantees him some money, which was an unnecessarily early commitment to his future on the roster, but a sixth-seventh pick swap for a starting receiver is great business.”

Steelers' offense set for big turnaround?

Well, that will ultimately depend on who the quarterback is.

But for now, let's assume it is Aaron Rodgers.

He now has two legitimate weapons in DK Metcalf and Pittman Jr., plus two genuine running backs in Jaylen Warren and Dowdle. That is a good start.

Plus, the offensive line should be better, so Rodgers does have a bit to work with if he chooses to return.

Last season was a tough watch offensively, but now with McCarthy calling the plays, coupled with the free agency additions, the Steelers could look a lot better in 2026.
