On NBA Countdown, ESPN's Shams Charania revealed that the Detroit Pistons are fully compelled about the current progress of their franchise superstar, with hopes that Cunningham could rejoin them just in time for the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

"I'm told that the Detroit Pistons are optimistic and there is hope internally that Cade Cunningham will be able to return in time for the start of the NBA playoffs in mid-April. But right now, he's still just one week removed from that collapsed lung," Charania told Malika Andrews.

"He's very much in the recovery phase of the process. He's starting to do some small steps in the facility, do some small light work in the weight room, but he still has to recover from that collapsed lung. And the Pistons expect, I'm told, to have a better sense on a complete and exact timeline for Cade Cunningham in the next one to two weeks."

With less than three weeks left in their regular-season schedule, Detroit will continue to hold the line without its best player.

Cunningham is averaging 24.5 points, 9.9 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 61 games before going down due to his lung complications.
