The Los Angeles Rams had the best passing offense in the 2025 season, averaging 268.1 yards per game and with Matthew Stafford returning for another season, the team needs to maximize their window to win the Super Bowl before the MVP decides to call it a career.
LA also had a strong run game, averaging 126.6 rushing yards per game, but one NFL writer believes the team can add a running back can bolster the group in the 2026 season.

The Los Angeles Rams currently hold the 13th pick of the 2026 NFL Draft and could make a splash selection in just under a month.
Kyren Williams is the number one running back for the Rams, with 1,252 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns in 17 games in the 2025 season.
Despite recording three straight seasons with 1,000+ rushing yards and a minimum of 10 rushing touchdowns, one NFL writer believes LA could trade him and add a running back through the draft.
CBS Sports’ Garrett Podell named the Rams as a landing spot for Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love and has LA trading Williams away.
“Yes, the Rams inked running back Kyren Williams to a three-year, $33 million extension, but Los Angeles could make the most of being in the upper half of the draft in 2026 by selecting the best player available,” Podell wrote. “Selecting Love could embolden the Rams to sell high on Williams and trade him for draft compensation, which would also free up $9.07 million in cap space for the NFC runner-up.”
“The Rams indicated they are ‘all in’ with quarterback Matthew Stafford once again, who is fresh off winning 2025 NFL MVP honors… Head coach Sean McVay could make sweet, sweet music with Love, who would become the most talented running back he’s had since 2017 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Todd Gurley.
Love, who finished third in Heisman voting, had 1,372 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns in 12 games for the Fighting Irish in the 2025 collegiate season, with another 280 receiving yards and 3 touchdown catches.
Pro Football Focus graded Love the second-best running back in the country with a 93.1 overall grade. The running back also received a 72.6 blocking grade on the season.
The Rams could bolster the position if they select Jeremiyah Love with the 13th pick — as they have a history of not selecting in the first round under Sean McVay.
Podell did not mention what the return for Williams would be if the team were to trade him away.

Head coach Sean McVay has a strong regard for Kyren Williams, as evident of his three-year contract extension with the organization.
“I think he’s a stud in terms of just his great energy,” McVay said. “He’s a lead-by-example guy. He’s got this authentic energy. This just consistent belief. This never-say-die attitude, and he’s got this mental and physical toughness.”
“He’s so authentically and refreshingly himself and I think that’s why it resonates with his teammates and never asks anything of his teammates that he’s not willing to do and he’s done a hell of a job.”
With the head coach in favor of the running back, it appears hard for the team to move on from Williams. But it’s not rare for a team to select the best available player, as Garrett Podell mentioned and it could happen with Jeremiyah Love and the Los Angeles Rams.
