Patriots urged to sign All-Pro WR for Drake Maye

The New England Patriots were close to a Super Bowl in in 2025, and the franchise has made some key moves to help push Mike Vrabel's team over the top.

The big one has been receiver Romeo Doubs.

Getting another weapon for Drake Maybe, especially after Stefon Diggs was moved on was crucial, but for most, the Patriots need more.

But who could the franchise look at in terms of a cheap weapon, that also has some upside?

Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport has one -- Deebo Samuel.

“Deebo Samuel's best days are likely behind him,” Davenport wrote. “But the 30-year-old managed almost 800 total yards and scored six touchdowns with the Washington Commanders in 2025, and he would offer New England an underneath target who excels after the catch for Drake Maye and a movable chess piece for offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

“And given New England's status as a legitimate Super Bowl contender, Samuel may be willing to sacrifice some salary for a chance to play in a second Super Bowl.”

Is Samuel a Patriots fit?

Of course he could be.

And with his ability as both a receiver and running back, seeing what Samuel could do in that offense is an interesting thing to think about.

Samuel produced fine numbers last season with the Washington Commanders, and that was without Jayden Daniels for the most part.

His rushing numbers weren't big, but Josh McDaniels could work wonders in that space as well.

There is still some juice in the tank for Deebo, but would he be content with a pay cut and not being "the" guy? If there's a Super Bowl on offer, I'd imagine he would be.
